One of the most famous contemporary Polish writers, Olga Tokarczuk, will be reading from her newest novel “Drive your plough over the bones of the dead” on November 15th at Muffathalle. It will be her second visit of Munich. The first one was regarding the presentation of her critically acclaimed novel “Bieguni” (“The Runners”, German: “Unrast”).
“Drive your plough over the bones of the dead” combines the genre of the thriller drawing a dark vision from the world with the poetry of William Blake. We recommend an interview with the author by Justyna Sobolewska from “Polityka” (in English and Polish).

Dear friends of Ahoj Nachbarn,
In September we will not organize any events on our own, because we are very busy with our upcoming big event – the film festival of the Polish film filmPOLSKA München (23.-27.11.2011). You can find the details for this event under filmPOLSKA on our website.
Nevertheless there are many other things happening in Bavaria in September, which we would like to recommend:
– 9th September: a charity party at Import Export in Munich with BalkanDzukbokS, Express Brass Band and Dj Carli, Balkan Beats und Weltmusik“. Entrance fee: 8 EUR.
– 15 years of Krakauer Haus in Nuremberg: the Krakauer Haus organizes since 15 years lots of events for promoting Polish culture in Nuremberg. To celebrate, it organizes several concerts (for example with Czesław Śpiewa) and exhibitions for this respected institution.
– From now on you can send your movies to one of the biggest film festivals of the East-European film Go East.
– Advance notice: On the 20th of October the Polish-German movie, WINTERTOCHER by Johannes Schmid, comes to theater.
If you know anything about events connected with East European culture in Bavaria, please let us know. We would be happy to publish them on our website.
Hope the summer reigns on gloriously into September!
