Ahoj Czech Filmweek!

Starting today: the 12th Czech Film Week and all of us Ahojski are very excited! Five days of films, exciting discussions and a genuinely Czech Film Party including Becherovka are ahead of us.
The screening of the opening film „Czech Made Man“ by Tomáš Řehořek at 8:30 p.m. is already sold out! But we will show another film by this director on Sunday, 15th of July, 7:30 p.m. „Piko“ ist a mixture of a feature film and a documentary about an issue that has also been heavily discussed in Germany lately: the increasing spread of the drug „Crystal Meth“ in the Czech Republic.

On short notice director Zuzana Liová will visit us at the Czech Film Week. Her much-noticed film feature debut „The House“ will be shown on Friday, 13th of July, 9.30 p.m. The film deals with obligations and expectations within the family circle and the problems facing them.

A related topic is covered by documentary filmmaker Jana Počtova: the conflicting needs of freedom and comfort. In her latest project she has portrayed the lives of six singles („Generation Singles“, Friday, 13th of July, 7.30 p.m.).

Both film makers are looking forward to answering questions at the Film Brunch at Baverese (15th of July, 11.00 a.m., please register at ccmunich@czech.cz).

As it is a Czech Film Week of course a proper bar night should not be missing! In our opinion „Substanz“ is the perfect location for an occasion like this. We’ll start on Saturday at 9 p.m., come and have one, two or three „pivo“ with us and come dancing to Czech music selected and played by Filip Černý from „Valentinstüberl“.

You can find the entire programm of the Czech Film Week here (unfortunately only in German).

We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Yours Ahojski
